Phew - Developers Course Over - another announced!!
September 17th, 2006
What a great weekend! 26 of us crammed into a hot room with the air conditioning on maximum and 26 laptops pumping out the hot air into the room - fun!
The first ever UK Joomla Based PHP Developers course was a fantasic success with everyone really enjoying the two days in Gloucester. The hotel was very accomodating and the organisation by Trevena was the best.
From both verbal feedback, and the feedback forms we asked people to complete after the course, the content of the two days was at the right level for everyone, however to fit so much in we had to pass over some easier concepts a little fast! A 46 page companion manual was written by Phil Taylor which contained almost all of the subjects we covered. On the second day Phil provided the code examples for the admin side of the example component (that he wrote late on saturday night chatting to Brian near middnight!!) as it appeared that although this was a course on writing code, the delegates did not want to write code in the course hehe hehe hehe.
So we are still listening to the feedback:
- We will be announcing a NEW DATE for a course!! STRICTLY LIMITED TO 5 PEOPLE! - watch this space tomorrow! FIRST COME FIRST SERVED - The course dates will be within the next 4 weeks.
- We will be announcing a NEW consultancy service “Spend the day with Phil - One on One/Three “ - We will be allowing 4 days in the next four weeks where you can book Phil for the day and arrive at his office and spend the day getting custom individual training and mentoring on ANYTHING Joomla related! - again first come first served once dates announced.
- Our next full developers course will have more handouts and more real world code examples, and more take home examples
- There will be much LESS typing in new courses
- We will revise the seating arrangements so that the projector screen can be easily seen (Or put the young guys at the back and the glasses wearing guys at the front
)
A special thanks to the Cheltenham and Gloucester Chase Hotel - the feedback was great for the rooms, breakfast and accomodation!
A special thanks to Brian Teeman for printing the posters and providing excellent support
A special thanks to Trevena for organising the course
A special thanks to Mark from Coos Creations for photos - used with (assumed) permission
A special thanks to all the developers that attended - I trust you enjoyed yourself and will make some great (secure) components!!!!
