Someone ordered a site a couple of weeks ago. After spending 2 days trying to find the components, modules, etc. that I needed of which some didn't work right, I ended up deleting the whole thing. Started over with 1.0 and finished in a few hours and EVERYTHING works. He's a happy customer.

I have a small 1.5 site just to play around with, but for trouble free sites I'm using 1.0 for the time being, even for new sites.

I too am stunned at the total lack of consideration for Joomla 1.0 site owners and webmasters. I have sites that are in development that have a LOT of custom third-party extensions. Updating them to the new API is one nightmare, but the fact that the core itself (including the tables) have changed in critical ways has all but guaranteed that I can NEVER migrate my pre-existing sites to Joomla 1.5.

very useful post, very informative and quite true, I must admit I was pretty staggered by the failure to keep 1.0 users on board. I now have 1.0 sites that will never migrate to 1.5
