A lot of people have been asking what our plans are for mosListMessenger (mosLM) now that Joomla 1.5 has been released.
At the moment, the downloadable version of mosLM is not compatible with Joomla 1.5 - at all - not even with the so-called legacy plugin enabled.
A few months ago we ported mosLM to Joomal 1.5SVN as it was then - we had it working and even announced our progress in this blog. However late changes to the Joomla 1.5 code base rendered the component unworking before Joomla 1.5 was released.
We are planning to re-release mosLM under the name Joomla Mailing List Manager as soon as we can - however other codeing commitments (Like Joomla Tags/KB/Forms) have taken priority.
Please don’t ask us when to expect a release - we will release it when its done and tested - until then enjoy life!

We are pleased to announce the release of mosListMessenger v2.0.8 to address some niggling bugs. The main issue was the stalling of messages, and the inability to resume the queue. Other improvements have been made to the mass import/export of users and the confirmation of users requests.

Upgrade instructions can be found in the FAQ

What a fantastic day! When we heard the Simpsons were coming to London we dropped everything to drive down and spend the day with them. No I dont mean the yellow skinned, eat-my-shorts type Simpsons! I mean Matt Simpson (And his beautiful wife Karla Simpson), Matt is the original developer of ListMessenger, the PHP application that mosListMessenger and Mailing List Manager (Coming soon) is based on and licensed by.
After arriving at gatwick airport 30mins before their flight arrived (without them knowing I was meeting them!) I was greeted by another 1 hour wait as they sat on in the baggage reclaim waiting for their bags - so at 1am we finally met, all of us exhausted from a days travel - off to the hotel…
In the morning we all met up in London’s Victoria station - My wife and Karla, Matt and I and our 3 week old baby !
We spent the day together touring London’s tourist attractions, The Palace, Westminster, London Eye, SoHo, Oxford Street - and the place we all spent money in - the Apple Mac Store!!! (Long story, short version: 240v->110v converters don’t like hairdryers do they Karla?!).
It was finally great to meet such wonderful people have a chance to specd some quality time chilling out (we hardly spoke about work - much to the delight of the wifes!) but we did manage to agree a future for the continued development of mosListMessenger for Joomla 1.0.12 and a new product forked from ListMessengers next version to be called Mailing List Manager for Joomla 1.5 (When 1.5 is released!)
Matt, Karla, Many thanks for such a wonderful day - safe journey home (You are in a plane above the Atlantic right now!) - Matt and I have worked together for many years now, having never spoken on the phone, or met - the internet is a great place!

Ok so I have a few secrets at the moment, and I am just bursting to tell you all what we have been working on at Blue Flame IT, however I need to keep it under wraps a little longer until I have a public demo to show you - you are going to love it!
So for today I wanted to release a smaller secret. mosListMessenger for Joomla 1.0.x has been a huge success over the years and we are pleased to annouce, under license from Matt Simpson, the original creator of ListMessenger, we have developed a full Mailing List Extension for Joomla 1.5. Subscription Based and Admin driven, this Joomla Extension will be the first of our new solutions for Joomla 1.5 based on totally rewritten code.
We have forked ListMessenger (With permission) and have added more Joomla Specific Features and Wizards in this new version - You can even use “Joomla Mailing List” to email all your registered users or admin users, or any of your unlimited Subscription based mailing lists.
We are even completing wizards for creating the subscription modules so you dont even need ANY html knowledge at all - we will be releasing this new version very soon
- so keep watching our site for details, until then here is a screenshot!

A few weeks ago we let all mosListMesseger customers know about a possible security hole in mosListMessenger.
Since then there have been no known hacks using the security hole and details of it have not been in the public domain.
Today we received information that a certain hacker is aware of the remote file inclusion available through mosLM files and is attempting to compromise Joomla sites with mosLM installed.
The hack will only be successful if:
- You have not upgraded mosLM as per our instructions
- You have register_globals = On in your php.ini (TURN IF OFF!!)
- You have not paid attention to file permissions and set some folders to writable
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU TAKE THE ABOVE STEPS to ensure you are not hacked through mosListMessenger! - You have been warned.

A modern website, especially one that is driven by a content management system should have many tools that allow two way communication with your site visitors. A key part of this communication is the use of email newsletters. Many people associate email marketing just with spam, but email can fill many needs, for example:
- Follow up emails from ecommerce purchases
- Communicating with family members on a family web site
- Sequential ebooks about a particular topic
- A news and tips email from a topic niche site
To help you find out which email marketing solution is best for you, Compass Design has reviewed various Joomla email newsletters and some other non-Joomla email systems.
mosListMessenger - our Newsletter component, gets a great 4Stars!

In true Phil Taylor style I have decided o extend the £20.00 sale price offer on al my Joomla Components - Why? - whell you guys seem to like the price at £20.00 rather than a little higher (Normal prices range from £20.00 to £30.00).
I personally think you are getting a great bargain as I know how much time and dedicaton have gone into my components over the last 4 years and selling it for 20.00 seems illogical to many. However grab them while you can bfore prices increase.
I am also working very hard on my next Joomla component, as well as looking into the future and the rewriting of some components for Joomla 1.1 compatibility. More details on this soon, but for now go and buy Joomla components at only GBP20.00 - who knows when I will be bothered to up the prices again !
:-)
