Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 hardy and HP Color Laserjet 2600n
March 25th, 2008
I am placing this in my blog in the hope google will index this so that others can be helped.
As you may (or may not) know we use only Linux in our company, for both workstations and servers. We recently took the brave step of upgrading my own PC to the beta version of Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) (Well actually it was xubuntu - same difference)
We know that our HP Color Laserjet 2600n is compatible with linux as we have been using it for ages. but after the upgrade all printing was broken - nothing would print.
We located the problem as a typo in the foo2hp wrappers - (this was a long process
but one possible because of the open nature of the source code) - we identifed the exact issue and line and reported this as a bug in the ubuntu bug tracker - and to our amazement it a fix was commited less than a few days after reporting! Fantastic turnaround time!
Well I’m writing this incase anyone else is having the same problem that I had.
