New version of Joomla KB released

January 11th, 2010

I’m pleased to announce a new version of Joomla Knowledgebase has just been released, this new version addresses the WYSIWYG Editor issues previously reported and also now provides full PHP 5.3 compatibility :-)

new bfforms version available, PHP 5.3 Compatible!

January 10th, 2010

Hi All.
Lets start the new year with a new site and new features eh?

I have just uploaded the latest version of bfForms which is now (fingers crossed) 100% compatible with PHP 5.3 (for all you bleeding edge people!)
The new version of bfForms for Joomla 1.5.x also now includes the great ixEdit jQuery designer and also a wonderful multipage form solution thanks to janko. This solution will not suit everyone, but it is small and simple and will work for the majority of cases to split up longer forms into more manageable sections.

I’ll be posting videos/tutorials on how to use these two new features shortly.

The new bfForms website is also live, and I’m busy populating it with yet more FAQ’s and more helpful videos…

Existing customers can get this version for FREE from their downloads page at myJoomla.com

Have fun…

New version of bfForms released with new features

August 3rd, 2009

I have just uploaded a new verison of bfForms with a few new features, the main one being Pausable forms (or “Save and come back later” forms for registered and logged in users).  As always I have released it early with sponsorship from a customer, but I have not had time to document all the features :-) I promise I’ll commission this asap.

This release also fixes some long standing niggle bugs that were starting to annoy me, so I fixed a lot of little minute issues that you might not notice unless you found them first (Oh and a couple of biggies)

Hope you like it – another release will be made sooner with some more new feature.

UPDATE: This release also includes the SMTP fix for non standard SMTP ports and SSL

(Forgive the brief blog post – I’m battling some personal family issues and dont have a lot of time right now to expand)

Add a form into your Joomla content or a form in a module

New Features Highlight: bfForms for Joomla 1.5.x – all versions over v0.2.83

I’m going to try and blog on some of the new features available in bfForms over the next few days. There are LOADS of new things to try out.

The number ONE feature requested, without doubt, was the ability to embed forms into Joomla Content Items and Joomla Modules.

I am pleased to announce that bfForms now comes with FREE plugins for Joomla 1.5.x, a content plugin that provides form embedding in Joomla contentembedding forms into Joomla Module positions and a module that allows .

Its so simple.  To embed in content you use {form 1} where 1 is the id of the form you want to show – thats it!!!!! no other configuration in the content item is required! Simple, quick and easy!

For the module, all you need to do is assign the bfForms module to the position you want it and specify the form id in the params. – again amazingly simple!

Watch our blog for further hints and tips on the new features over the next few days.

Blue Flame Forms Beta – Now available

February 26th, 2009

Now Available For Existing Customers Only

The long awaited beta version of bfForms, the next generation forms extension

I am pleased to announce the beta program for the next version of our forms application.

Firstly, we are rebranding Joomla Forms to become Blue Flame Forms (bfForms). This is primarily because of the trademark of the word Joomla! in certain countries.

As already blogged, I’m on holiday next week, and so I wanted to leave something for you to play with while I am away.

There have been some huge changes to bfForms since the last version back in June 2008, and therefore I want to run a beta before replacing the current version.

To get access to the beta, you need to be an existing Joomla Forms/bfForms customer, login to myJoomla.com and you will see a new download available called “ Blue Flame Forms (bfForms) BETA – NOT FOR USE ON LIVE SITES” (just to ram home the message that this is a beta and should not be used on live sites!)

For the week long beta we invite ALL FEEDBACK relating to bfForms Beta Version to be EMAILED ONLY to the dedicated email address beta@phil-taylor.com – you most probably will not get a reply, I’m on holiday and only working 1 hour a day, but be assured we will read your emails.  To log bug reports please also use this method. We will attempt to fix bugs asap on our return from holiday and release as soon as we can after that.

****NO Help or Support will be available for the beta until it is released as stable.****

Sing with me:

This is a beta and should not be used on live sites!.

This PRE RELEASE of the beta version is only available to EXISTING CUSTOMERS of Joomla Forms.

To download, go to myJoomla.com, login to your account and you will see the new item in your purchases, you can download from there.

DO NOT USE THE BETA ON A LIVE SITE – THIS IS A PREVIEW RELEASE FOR TESTING ONLY – YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

If you are running an older version of Joomla forms, uninstall it (The forms and data are not deleted) and then install bfForms Beta and follow the prompts, your database schema will be automatically upgraded.

A list of known issues will be posted here:

Thanks for taking this for a test drive – be sure to provide feedback – remember this is a BETA and not meant for live site use :-)

Joom!Fish 2.0 Stable – We Will Get There

December 31st, 2008

Its been a long run, but Alex announced today (On his birthday!) the release of Joom!Fish 2.0 Stable.

It has also been a long time since our implementation of Joom!Fish in Tags, KB, Forms has worked and we had put off fixing it until the stable 2.0 release was made – well now it has been made so I have again added this to (near) the top of my work list to re-implement it into our extensions.

Please bear with us as we get this done, its not as easy as just adding XML Content Items in our case (techie: we overwrite the database object with our own and therefore lose the JF database object so need to implement our own   ) :-)

Thanks for all your support – please dont keep asking when this work will be done, it will be done, and then I’ll announce it here :-)

ListMessenger For Joomla 1.5 v2.2.4 Released

December 25th, 2008

As a quick Christmas Present, I have just released ListMessenger for Joomla! v2.2.4

This release specifically fixes some smaller issues we had in the first release, as well as reducing the distribution zip file size (so that it can be easily installed on restrictive hosts) as well as enabling WYSIWYG Editors. (For the editors, we have ripped out the LM Implementation of this and now lever on the Joomla way of doing things, meaning all your favourite Joomla editors can now be used – just select them in Joomla Global Configuration.
