Tags and KB Extensions Updated Today

October 16th, 2008

Today we have released further updates to KB and Tags extensions.

I dont have a full changelog, but a lot of bug fixes, including SEF plugin issues and other minor tweaks have been included.

Compatibility with KB and sh404sef/SEF Advance 2008 should also be fixed now.

And the other main issue was Tags and Layouts, these all now work correctly :-)

Note: The main bulk of this release is to push out a new xajax plugin version.  If, after upgrading FROM A WORKING VERSION to the latest version of either of these extensions you get a blank page then just delete /plugins/system/xajax.* and refresh the page – that will force a reinstall of the new xajax plugin – this is required on all sites!

Joomla 1.5.1 Released – Important Security release

February 9th, 2008

The Joomla Core team have today released Joomla 1.5.1 to specifically address a security issue,

The official announcement was:

Joomla! 1.5.1 ReleasedThe Joomla! community is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Joomla! 1.5.1 [Seenu].  Since the stable release of Joomla! 1.5 we have seen huge numbers of downloads which has helped to push the total number of downloads to over 3 million in less than a year.

We have found in one of the new features of Joomla! 1.5, an XML-RPC Blogger API plugin, a high priority security vulnerability.  While this feature is disabled by default on every Joomla! 1.5 install and would have to be manually enabled for the vulnerability to exist, we strongly recommend that all Joomla! 1.5 users upgrade to Joomla! 1.5.1.

Thanks to the work done by both the Joomla! Bug Squad as well as the Development Team , not only has this vulnerability been patched but so have several other smaller issues.

Joomla Tags – New Features Just Released

December 26th, 2007

Well its Christmas time again :-) And while you are all busy eating left-overs I have been busy improving Joomla Tags with adding the very most requested features!.  I have just released v0.1.1541 which contains the following new features:

  • Ability to select, on a per content item basis, whether to hide or show tags
  • Ability to set the global value to either show or hide – the above feature can override the above feature
  • You can now limit the number of tags in the tag cloud and set the number of tags that will display!

We have also fixed every confirmed bug/issue with Joomla Tags, added better non UTF-8 encoding support and even fixed a load of underlying issues with bfFramework.  We have also added the cool codepress plugin which allows you now to edit the components CSS and Layout files with colour syntax highlighted editors! All from within your web browser!

We hope you will like the new features – please feel free to provide feedback on the Joomla Tags forum

Coming Soon, sneak previews…

July 15th, 2007

Well we have been out of the office a lot in June/July but all for good cause.  With investment from a local company we are pleased to give you a little sneak preview into a new Joomla Component that will soon be released by Blue Flame IT Ltd. Well ok we cant at this moment in time as I cant get the screenshot uploaded :-( But watch this space as we have a BRAND NEW COMPONENT to be released some time SOON!

Server Upgrade:

In the world of servers there are two types of people, those that have the same server for 10 years (running linux, probably more memory in my watch than their server!) and people like me, who replace the server hardware and software every 2 years to stay current. Well this time is upon me again – having just purchased our new server we will be soon migrating all our sites (known and unknown!) to our new platform.  At the same time we will take the opportunity to slim down – bear with us if we have ome downtime but we are aiming for 100% uptime during the move (No reason not to!)

New Site – Amazing Tools:

This  one has been under wraps for some time, with only one other person outside our company having a preview of it.  We will be launching this new site before the end of August – the site will totally blow your mind in terms of maintaining your Joomla Based sites! – No more details yet, just introducing it – building expectations :-)

FREE Installs of our components:

We are also working on a system where you can get IMMEDIATE assistance, or Professional Installation of our components on your site,  (Once you have purchased them!).  We are aware that some of the bfFramework components can be tricky to install if you have many other conflicting components – or a naff server – and therefore we want to do our best to help you!  This will come in the form of a Web form that you fill in to request assistance/installation – we will then do the rest within a guaranteed 24 hours! – again more details soon…
